The Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley has signed a pod deal at Warner Bros. TV for his production company, Citizen Media, with partner/former The Vampire Diaries executive producer Bob Levy.
Under the pact, Wesley and Levy will develop new television projects for the studio, starting with a darkly comedic single-camera half-hour based on a non-fiction article by Jason Smith called Confessions Of a Drug-Addicted High School Teacher.
Citizen Media has three other series projects in the works that preceded the WBTV deal, including a limited series at ABC produced by Robert Redford.
Titled Pecos, the ABC limited series, produced by ABC Signature Studios, is inspired by the true story of a 29-year-old rookie journalist who takes down one of the richest, most powerful men in Texas, proving his gigantic business empire is a complete fraud, in 1962 Pecos, Texas. Shawn Christensen, Oscar winner for his short film Curfew, is writing. Citizen Media’s Wesley and Levy executive produce alongside Robert Redford and Laura Michalchyshyn of Sundance Productions.
At Fox 21 TV Studios, Citizen Media has Finding Natalie, a drama about a young Mexican woman searching for her 17-year-old sister Natalie who was recently kidnapped by a sex trafficking cartel. NY playwright and The Americans writer Hilary Bettis will write.
At Freeform, Wesley and Levy is developing one-hour series Shanghai Summer, about 20-something Americans pursuing their dreams in Shanghai, China. Oanh Ly (The Catch) is on board to write the script.
Wesley, as well as fellow Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder, landed overall deals with the series’ producer WBTV as part of their most recent talent pacts for the long-running CW drama.
Wesley is hitting the ground running, having already started building a development slate with veteran producer/executive Levy, who also has served as an executive producer on such series as Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl.
Wesley is repped by ICM Partners and Management 360. Christensen, who has the upcoming feature Sidney Hall, is repped by Verve. Bettis is repped by CAA.

This Saturday, March 29th Paul Wesley will be honored at The Human Society’s 60th Anniversary Benefit Gala. Paul will be awarded the “Humane Generation Award”.
We will be awarding the Humane Generation Award to “The Vampire Diaries” starPaul Wesley. Using his massive star platform to advocate for farm animals and alert youth to the inherent cruelty of confinement on factory farms, Paul has been instrumental in creating a generation of young people who care about animal protection.
American actor and model, Paul Wesley, is making his stance on pig gestation very clear.
The “Vampire Diaries” star has written a letter to one of the country’s leading pork producers, Seaboard Corporation, calling for an end to the cruel and inhumane practice, where cages used to confine breeding pigs are so small that they do not even have enough room to turn around.
Wesley stated, “Until relatively recently, I was oblivious to factory farming conditions innocent animals endure on a daily basis. More specifically, I discovered that Seaboard insists on locking mother pigs in tiny gestation crates, with apparently no plans to move away from that particularly inhumane practice.”
He went on to say, “I can’t seem to comprehend how we, as inherently good people, still take part in some of the cruel methods of the past. I urge you take steps toward eliminating outdated gestation crates, both for the pigs at your mercy and millions of people across the globe who believe the way we treat animals reflects our own humanity.”
Seaboard Corporation is one of the largest and most profitable pork producers in the United States, raising approximately 4.3 million pigs for slaughter each year. Many of the major food companies have moved away from pig gestation and not all farmers take part in such cruel industry practices. One day, we will look back and wonder how human beings, such an evolved species, could engage in such barbaric practices.
Stefan Salvatore is stepping behind the camera, well, the actor who plays him is. According to BuzzFeed, Paul Wesley, known for his portrayal of the beautiful, loyal and sometimes ripper vampire Stefan, will direct an upcoming episode of ‘The Vampire Diaries.’
Wesley will soon be making his directorial debut this season, the first actor to do so on the series. As he told BuzzFeed, “It’s an honor and the cast couldn’t be any more supportive, which I feel truly grateful for.”
He is set to helm Episode 18 of the fifth, and current, season, which he described as “both nostalgic and suspenseful.” The episode feels like the typical ‘TVD’ world, but as Wesley put it, “something is a bit askew,” while adding, “It feels uneasy. And I respond to that.”
If you’re worried we won’t be seeing Stefan that episode, don’t fret. Wesley assured Stefan will be there, but the episode won’t solely focus on him, “It’s not Stefan-light, but it’s also not Stefan-heavy. I’d say it is somewhere in the middle. A good friend of mine recently directed a film he also starred in, and I was on set the whole time, so I got to see firsthand what that experience looked like.”
For years Wesley’s been wanting to take a stab at directing, but the studio and executive producer Julie Plec said he had to “earn the position.” After a year of shadowing directors, further preparation, and gaining “invaluable information,” Wesley was granted an episode.
Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) is venturing outside of TV. The sexy star just signed a deal to help launch a new social media platform for celebrity and fan interactions, and it sounds exciting for all TVD fans. Created by LX Ventures, the platform is called Mobio INsider and will give fans a more direct pipeline to their favorite celebs.
According to Stockhouse, the platform will allow “celebrities and fans to interactive on an advanced level, with fans being able to ask the celeb for images, videos, and more, with fans polling suggestions to see which they most agree with.” Paul is only one of the celebs who has signed on as a “social media influencer” to help launch the platform, set for unveiling on December 1. Other celebs who will be involved with Mobio INsider: Scott Disick, Romeo, and Ke$ha.
Paul brings his 2.4 million Twitter followers to Mobio INsider with his agreement “not only to use the platform, but push the platform to millions of followers.” His addition to the project seems to already be having an effect, as the LX stock jumped 5 percent following the announcement of Paul’s involvement. (Something we would like to call “The Wesley Bump.”) This seems like an exciting social media project to be a part of, and we think it is good news for Paul. And, depending on the quality of the platform, it could be good news for us fans, too!
The staff here at Paul Wesley Source wish you a safe and happy 31st Birthday!
